Solutions to Global Challenges

Speed-up your port's efficiency on water

Streamline transport and boost trade with integrated holistic solutions covering sea, port and land

The issue

Ports are the global gateway for trade. However, most ports can simply not keep up with the growth in shipping volumes around the world. A higher demand for goods means larger vessels which often arrive at the same time. Plus, larger ships take more time to offload leading to more berth time. In addition, congested ports produce more harmful emissions and discharge a higher concentration of ballast water into the environment.

Why it matters

Future ports are anticipated to be even larger drivers of innovation and revenue requiring the port ecosystem to transform into more of an open and efficient community. By leveraging new technology, ports can work smarter with less of an impact on the environment. Whether that’s securing safe vessel transit and berthing, reducing marine pests or mitigating the impact of sediment plumes, there are endless ways in which new technology can help.

How we can help

Identifying the right solutions requires a thorough understanding of risks, issues, and opportunities. Through the unique combination of physics based, advanced software technology with expert consultancy methods recognised by IMO and PIANC, DHI helps new and existing ports and terminals increase spatial productivity, streamline operations, reduce expenditures and become more ecofriendly.
